Getting LayerLane Ready for Real Clients
View original on LinkedInAs published
Been getting LayerLane ready for actual client traffic, and the last couple days turned into way more than I expected.
The intake flow already worked. Leads saved. Billing existed. The admin looked good.
But once I started testing the real customer path, I kept finding things that only show up when you stop looking at the UI and start asking what would happen with an actual stranger using the system.
Ownership. Database permissions. Retry behavior. What a client can see. What happens when a payment webhook fires twice. What happens when someone gets activated as a client. What happens when access gets revoked. Whether the customer actually gives me enough information to build what they want.
So I ended up tightening the intake and access rules, rehearsing the database migrations, testing the customer workflow end to end, getting Stripe live, adding structured project briefs and scope confirmation, and building out the first pieces of ad attribution and campaign management.
The funny part is most of that work is invisible from the homepage.
The site still just looks like a site.
But underneath it, it’s starting to feel a lot more like an actual operating system for getting a client from first click to project kickoff.
That’s been the bigger lesson for me.
Working software is one thing.
Software you’re willing to put real customers, real access, and real money through is another.
